Haworthia elizeae I.Breuer

elizeae: after Elize Esterhuizen

H. elizeae is small, clump forming species. Rosettes are small, 2-3 cm in diameter with numerous leaves, translucent end areas and toothed margins and keels. It grows on south facing slope in stony outcrops. Bayer includes this species under rossouwii complex, which isn't really fortunate solution - I prefer to keep it on its own species level until clear connections to other species will be proofed.

Distribution map

H. elizeae is known only from large mountain called Bromberg, W of SwellendamIn nature same as in cultivation it forms large clusters. Recently was discovered similar element NW of Swellendam, which clearly resembles mirabilis group, but it hard to place under current names. I will soon write new article about it.

In cultivation it grows without any problems and propagation can be done by offsetts.
