H. floccosa is dark green species, from bolusii group. Differences are the colour of the leaves - it is more darker and thinner, almost without any translucent areas. Spination is much softer. It is one of the 'new' species described by Hayashi. It remains solitary, size of the rosette is 3-4 cm, in cultivation plants grow larger.
H. floccosa grows well protected under the bushes or between stones. It is growing near Lithops localis and H. glauca. Its distribution area is NE. Fullarton (NE. Willowmore) - that´s very far SW from Graaff-Reinet where H. bolusii occurs. Recently were discovered two new populations. First one is few km to the North closer to Miller in Swanepoelspoort. In this locality it grows together with H. decipiens var. minor, which is not common. Second locality is to the West at Trompetterspoort. This locality extends the distribution to the Willowmore.
In cultivation it is not difficult plant, just keep it more in shade. Propagation must by done by seed.
