argenteo-maculosa: silver-spotted.
H. pygmaea var. argenteo-maculosa is separated from typical variety by the more conspicuous white flecking in the leaves and by relative smoothness. It grows among grass or between rocks very well hidden and protected.
It comes from two known localities between Albertinia and Mossel Bay. It has a very strong link with H. esterhuizenii (H. magnifica var. splendens sensu MBB) from E. Albertinia, which has more conspicuous surface tubercles.
H. pygmaea var. argenteo-maculosa remains usually solitary and propagation should be done by seed.
