Haworthia koelmaniorum Oberm. & Hardy

koelmaniorum
: after Mr and Mrs Koelman

H. koelmaniorum
is slowly growing species, with dark brownish-green, opaque, scabrid leaves with small raised tuberles. It remains usually solitary. It is very popular and demanded species, you can find it in every "good" Haworthia colection.

Distribution map

H. koelmaniorum is quite unusual species, it is the most northern record in the genus, it occurs around Groblersdal and Loskop Dam in Transvaal. It is closely related to H. limifolia, H. venosa and somehow to H. tessellata. The type locality near Globlersdal was almost destroeyd due to over-collecting, fortunately it has been recorded in several other localities around.

H. koelmaniorum can be easily propagated by seeds or from leaf so there should be no need for relience on field collected plants. It needs bit more shady conditions in cultivation and lot of patience - it is not quick species!
