subglauca: nearly glaucous.

H. chloracantha var. subglauca is smaller offsetting variety. It differs from var. cloracantha and var. denticulifera by larger sparser spines and colour, which is more bluish green. 

Distribution map

H. chloracantha var. subglauca is growing around Great Brak, amongst grass and often withdrawn into the soil. In cultivation it is know plant and doesn´t need any special conditions to grow. Easiest way of propagation are offsets.

Well Kuba, this taxon would not win any beauty pageants! At least in the wild state. I've just bought one, yet to be shipped, and it looks quite nice actually.

The fact that all your photos are of plants in situ is wonderful. I wonder if you've ever considered taking pictures of plants in your collection that have been under cultivation? Sort of like what Cok does.
