Haworthia cooperi var. venusta (C.L.Scott) M.B.Bayer

venusta: charming

The only known locality is near Kasouga River. Locality itself is surprisingly small - only around 20 x 20 m. In nature H. cooperi var. venusta has only few leaves and remain quite small. In cultivation it can grow much bigger and make offsets slowly. It is the beauty among others Haworthias. Leaves are covered with short white hairs. (similar as H. pubescens).

Miss Grace Britten´s excellent herbarium sheet led to recent rediscovery of this species by Gerhard Marx. In the same time, but independently, has also David Cumming rediscover H. cooperi var. venusta in the same locality as Gerhard. Nearby is also H. coarctata and H. cymbiformis growing.
