H. fasciata
is a common species which already our grandparents were growing on window sill. Common name is "Zebra haworthia".
H. fasciata has deltoid leaves with the smooth leaf faces. Rosette is stemless and proliferous. It has white tubercles on underside leaves only and leaves are fibrous. This is the main difference from H. attenuata has no fibres and tubercles are on both sides of leaves.

 

Distribution map

Distribution range is from Port Elizabeth in the east to Brandekraal in the west. H. fasciata near Brandekraal hybridize with H. viscosa var. variabilis. From N of Uitenhaage was described robust "forma browniana". Around Gamtoos Bridge is H. fasciata very robust, similar to "var. ovato-lanceolata" from Vanstadens Pass.


H. fasciata in cultivation is not difficult plants. Propagation can by done usually by offsets.

Can the Haworthia species grow indoors in a nice sunny area?

To Gavin: Yes, Haworthias can grow indoors - just keep them on sunny place, they will do fine.
